YUKON SECURES ANOTHER MEETING IN UNIFORM!
WHITEHORSE, YUKON – The Yukon Division of the RCMP Veterans Association, in partnership with the Yukon Convention Bureau (YCB), is pleased to announce that the RCMP Veterans Association will be hosting its National convention North of 60 for the second time! The convention is slated to take place in Whitehorse in late May/early June 2009.
Ron Pond, newly elected National Director of the Association, pitched Yukon as the host destination for 2009 last week in Victoria, BC. RCMP Veteran Divisions from across Canada voted 22 – 15 in favour of hosting the 2009 convention in Whitehorse.
“We are so pleased to have been able to help secure the Yukon as a destination for this convention. For the Yukon to be increasingly successful as a meeting destination, YCB needs to have local people like Ron Pond come forward to pitch their association on coming to Yukon and who believe in Yukon and it’s MC&IT product.” said Paul Choquette, YCB President.
Yukon can expect to play host to an estimated 700 visitors with this convention. YCB projects the 3-day meeting will have an estimated economic impact of approximately $420,000 in direct spending for the territory.
“We are very pleased with the support YCB has given us and we want to approach this event in full partnership with YCB and the community as a whole.” Said Ron Pond, Host Chair for the 2009 convention.
