Whitehorse, Yukon. The Yukon Convention Bureau (YCB) will be hosting their third annual RED CARPET TOUR for Yukon meeting & event planners on Wednesday, October 5th!

The RED CARPET TOUR will offer meeting & event planners an opportunity to see, first hand the scope of meeting product and facilities available – including transportation, hotel, catering and convention facilities as well as resources that provide planning support for meetings, conventions and leisure activities.

“The Yukon Convention Bureau hosts dozens of individual site inspections each year - over half of those, on average, are with Yukon meeting or event planners and they are always surprised with what Yukon has to offer”, says Jenn Houtby, CMP – Managing Director – Yukon Convention Bureau.

For the 2005 RED CARPET TOUR, The YCB has partnered with the Department of Tourism & Culture as well as Yukon First Nations Tourism Association to highlight aboriginal product. This year we’ve also added stops at new venues like the NEW Canada Games Centre, and will have a few special surprises!

Houtby says, “2005 has been a great year with 37 meetings & events registered on our convention calendar! This is an estimated economic impact of over $3.5 million dollars. RED CARPET TOUR is one way that we want to encourage Yukoner’s to think about bringing their meeting to the Yukon.”

This year there are 35 meeting & event planners registered to take part from various organizations including corporate Yukon, government and association.

For those who wish to participate in the RED CARPET TOUR, registration required and attendance is complimentary including transportation and lunch. Please contact the Yukon Convention Bureau for details at 668-3555.
