YUKON CONVENTION BUREAU’S e-FAM TOUR GOES ONLINE

The Yukon Convention Bureau is now online with its e-FAM (‘Familiarization’)Tour. Ahead of the pack, YCB is the first and only Destination Marketing Organization in Canada to make use of this Virtual Visit site inspection tool – until now used by major hotels across the continent.

Far from being the brief ‘virtual tour’ that most internet users expect to see on internet vacation-booking sites, Virtual Visit is a multi-faceted program which adapts to several important selling activities. The online Remote Visit version allows YCB sales staff (or participating YCB members) to move prospective clients through a comprehensive site inspection – wherever in the world that client may be. Speaking over the telephone with the meeting planner, the seller can simultaneously point out important Yukon services, ‘walk’ through a facility, answer questions, and tailor the online visit to each client’s specific needs. An offline version adapts well to in-person selling. Another feature allows a selected, pre-recorded Virtual Visit ‘path’ to run at trade show booths or other public presentations. Alternatively, CD copies of Virtual Visit tours may be used as ‘leave behind’ items after sales calls, or hand-outs for trade shows and sales missions.

Phase One of YCB’s Virtual Visit has now been completed. Currently, Virtual Visit includes Yukon ‘destination’ information, and site inspections for a number of publicly-funded meeting venues. The next phase will involve the addition of YCB accommodation members. Each member who ‘buys-in’ will receive their own ‘stand-alone’ Virtual Visit for their specific property. These will also be linked to the YCB program allowing YCB sales staff to take every advantage to sell member properties. Other YCB members will, we hope, also choose to have their property, service or attraction added to the Yukon Virtual Visit. The better Yukon’s meeting facilities and services are represented, the better job we can do at selling our territory as the fantastic Meeting and Events destination we know it is.
