YUKON CONVENTION BUREAU HOST FAMILIARIZATION
TOUR
WHITEHORSE, YUKON – The Yukon Convention Bureau (YCB)
is hosting 7 prospective meeting & event planners on a
Familiarization (FAM) trip from February 20 – 23, 2004
in the Yukon.
Guests will spend equal time in both Whitehorse and Dawson
city, truly experiencing the Yukon with activities such as
snowmobiling and dog mushing, providing the ultimate Yukon
winter experience. The Planners are from Montreal, Niagara,
Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver. One guest has already booked
2 groups of 45 people for September 2004, providing for an
immediate return on investment for YCB members to the tune
of $135,000 in economic impact!
Familiarization tours are an important tool in encouraging
meeting & event planners to choose the Yukon as location
for their meeting or event. YCB members have been extremely
supportive of this FAM and have assisted in pulling together
a great cross section of Yukon products and services. Experiencing
first hand the exceptional products and services offered north
of 60, provides YCB members the opportunity to establish the
critical planner/ supplier relationship – key in the
success of future programs.
“YCB is thrilled to have the opportunity to host such
a prestigious group of meeting & event planners . For the
Yukon to be increasingly successful as a meeting & event
destination, YCB needs to consistently be in the marketplace
projecting a professional image with market-ready product – our
efforts are really paying off!” said Jenn Houtby CMP,
YCB Business & Marketing Manager.
Yukon Convention Bureau has 27 meetings or events currently
booked for 2004 generating an economic impact of $3.5 million
