YUKON TO HOST NATIONAL CONFERENCE!
WHITEHORSE, YUKON – The Yukon Convention Bureau (YCB), in partnership with the Learning Disabilities Association of Yukon, are pleased to announce that the Learning Disabilities Association of Canada (LDAC) will be hosting its 2009 National Conference in Whitehorse! The meetings are slated to take place September 24 – 27, 2009.
"This is simply going to be the biggest thing about learning disabilities to ever happen in Yukon," said Joel Macht, Executive Director of the Learning Disabilities Association of Yukon (LDAY). “Educators, parents, youth, literacy, family and children’s agencies here in Yukon will have access to dozens of internationally renowned speakers and professionals from fields including education, health, employment, and justice. LDAY is very excited to be working together with YCB and our other partners to make this an incredible national conference.”
“We are so pleased to have been able to secure Yukon the host for this meeting. For the Yukon to be increasingly successful as a meeting destination, YCB needs to have the support of local groups like The Learning Disabilities Association of the Yukon, who believe in Yukon and being involved on a national scale.” said Jenn Houtby, Managing Director, Yukon Convention Bureau.
YCB projects that this 300+ person meeting will generate approximately $287,000 in direct spending for the Territory. Winning this proposal is a direct result of the marketing efforts of YCB. This contact was established through the Convention Bureau’s on-going Yukon Marketing Program.
The Yukon Convention Bureau is charged with marketing the Yukon as a favorable destination for meetings and events and is currently selling Yukon through 2010!
LDAY has over 150 members and is part of a network of 12 provincial/territorial Learning Disabilities Associations across Canada. LDAY’s mission is to enable people with learning disabilities to reach their full potential.
