Day 01 Flights to Whitehorse Yukon
Bound!
Flights to Whitehorse. On arrival at Whitehorse International
Airport, a group of native drummers will greet the group
with a traditional chant. Transportation
will be provided in true Yukon fashion; a fleet of matching 4x4’s complete
with the company logo is standing by.
After a short city highlight tour to help
the group get its bearings, we’ll
transfer the group to your hotel. Once you’ve gotten settled in to your
room, we’ll transfer to the SS Klondike, a Mississippi-style paddle wheeler,
and now a National Historic Site located just a block away for your private welcome
reception and dinner. Once the pride of the 300 plus-vessel fleet that plied
the Yukon River watershed throughout Yukon and Alaska, the SS Klondike is one
of the last few remaining. The Yukon’s hottest and wildest act, the
Snowshoe Shufflers, will also be on-hand performing their signature Can-Can
dance on snowshoes
and are sure to keep you entertained throughout the evening.
Day 02: Whitehorse: All aboard the White
Pass and Yukon Route Railroad
Today we’ll travel back in time to the Day’s of ’98, when the
world was struck by gold fever following the discovery of gold at Dawson City
in 1896. We’ll travel by coach from Whitehorse to Fraser, British Columbia
(Canadian Customs), and board a private parlour car for a steam-locomotive driven
excursion to Bennett Station along a stretch of track that few have seen. A scrumptious
lunch will be served in the private dining room of the train station and you’ll
have time to stroll the old town site and the beach, before boarding
the train back to Fraser.
After last night’s more formal dinner, we’re sure you’ll appreciate
the opportunity to let your hair down a bit. You’ll enjoy our country hoe-down
at Caribou Crossing Trading Post. Rustic décor, open wood-beamed
ceiling, wooden floors and family-style seating, the Trading Post provides
an informal,
pleasant atmosphere that is ideal for relaxing and making new friends.
Day 03 Dawson City: Strike it rich
in Dawson City, home of the Klondike Gold Rush!
Private charter flight via to Dawson City. On arrival in
Dawson City, we’ll
transfer downtown and check into the hotel. You’ll have time this afternoon
to explore historic Dawson City on your own. With the Mayor of Dawson and other
notable citizens in period costume as our hosts, we’ll start with cocktails
at the Commissioners Residence, once home to the highest-ranking government official
during the Gold Rush. Following cocktails, we’ll move on to Odd Fellows
Hall for dinner. At the height of the Gold Rush there were more than 100 casinos
in Dawson City and tonight we’ll visit Diamond Tooth Gerties Casino. You’ll
enjoy the lively atmosphere as Madame Gertie herself sings the songs
of the day while her lively dancers perform the famous French Can-Can.
Day 04 Whitehorse: Exploring the Whitehorse
and area wilderness
Return charter flight to Whitehorse in the afternoon. Afternoon
free to explore the city or enjoy a number of optional
tours and activities.
Tonight’s
Gala dinner is sure to be memorable. We’ll travel to an authentic Yukon ‘homestead,
located about 20 mins from downtown at the mouth of the Ibex Valley. Our hosts
are professional dog mushers, and we’ll be greeted by the yelps and howls
of more than 75 Alaskan huskies. Following dinner, you’ll
dance the night away, under the stars and possibly the Northern
Lights.
Day 05: Transfer to Whitehorse International
Airport for the flights to southern Canada and onwards.
