Join other YCB members on July 20th for a free lunch workshop. Say Something! Communications from Ottawa, will discuss meeting planners expectations of your business and different ways to market your product to the national MC&IT client base. Quick, informative and free lunch too.
The add-on catalogue is moving into the layout and designing stage. YCB appreciates YTG’s contribution in covering the layout cost. Members participating in the catalogue will be re-contacted to assist with high quality images. We should soon be able to have a link for planners on our website to access the add-on information for pre & post conference activities. We will keep you updated with news!

The Golden Bravo Award is sponsored by Northwestel and was presented by Ann Kennedy to Wanda Leaf of Leaf Solutions at the TIAY Annual Conference in Dawson. The Golden Bravo Award is presented to a Yukon service provider – an organization, business or individual – who exceeds client expectations and provides outstanding service in the Meetings and Convention market. The other four nominees were: High Country Inn, Harrison Tanner (Yukon Artists @ Work), McBride Museum and Uncommon Journeys. On January 27, members of the Yukon Convention Bureau came out to hear a presentation by John Samms, Executive Director of Tourism Canmore. The topic of discussion was the concept of the Destination Marketing Fee (DMF), a charge added to hotel bills (across North America), and which is used by Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs) as a source of marketing funds. DMFs are usually calculated as a percentage of the room rate of participating hotels. Funds collected are normally held by a trust organization and turned over to the DMO in response to an approved marketing plan. More…
YCB & partners recently showcased the Yukon to 20 MC&IT agents and planners in Vancouver on Tuesday November 25th. This top notch luncheon was held at Morton’s Steakhouse and was YCB’s Virtual Visit debut, where guests experienced a Virtual Visit of Whitehorse and Dawson facilities. A Yukon fact quiz kept guests busy and three participants took home fantastic prizes to remember the Yukon with. Guest feedback stated clarity on many misconceptions of MC&IT capabilities in the territory and even generated possible FAM tour participants. Response to the YCB luncheon was fantastic, so many thanks to Deb Ryan - Air North, Yukon’s Airline, Adam Gerle – Best Western Gold Rush Inn and Mark Smith – Music Yukon for a great collaborative presentation!
Several of Whitehorse’s largest hotels, members of the Yukon Convention Bureau, took the opportunity last Wednesday (October 22) to give meeting planners an ‘eyeful’ of their upgraded facilities. The convention business brings thousands of delegates to Whitehorse each year and with them an impressive return on investment for marketing dollars. YCB member hotels are taking advantage of this lucrative market. Significant investment has been made in the accommodations sector: modernizing décor, replacing fixtures and furniture, and in some instances completely gutting spaces and refurbishing from the bottom up.
